Well that didn't work

Many years ago, a friend of mine told me to only use real cane sugar in cooking.  Her husband has crohn's disease and they made major dietary changes which was simply eating real, non processed food.  She surprised me saying that lots of sugar is processed from beets, not a "real" source of sugar.  Since opening a local product store, I am continued to be amazed at how different locally produced food is.  In a time in history when so much of what we eat is processed, it can sometimes be a struggle to eat real food.  I always use cane sugar but am on the lookout...
