CSA sign ups are open and excited to welcome you!

What?  You don't know what a CSA is?!?  Let me introduce you to a great way to get fresh local veggies and support your local community at the same time!  CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture.  Early in the spring (right NOW people!!!), households sign up for a "share" of vegetables from a local farm or a group of farms.  With early sign ups, farmers get seed money (literally) to plan their crops, it gives farmers a better idea of demand, and gives a good idea of where delivery will be available.  When produce begins, farmers pack up their produce...

Jam brings us together!

We hosted a few new friends for dinner the other week.  We don't know each other very well so I wasn't sure exactly what to make for dinner.  Breakfast seems to be a pretty safe bet.  The refrigerator was filled with bacon, sausage and eggs and I made biscuits.  Maybe someone would make a breakfast sandwich, maybe eat them all separately, who knows.  But those basic elements gave people a starting point.   The biscuits went out and we started grabbing jams to slather on them. Time to be thankful

Posted by Robin Abel on

'Tis the season to be thankful!  What a great reason to celebrate and remember the many great things in our lives.  In the spirit of thankfulness, here are some the products I'm most thankful for that have been introduced to me over the past 2 years. 1. Spices - Man do I love spices, and good ones!  We transitioned this  year from individual spices towards spice blends and WOW!  Primal Palate and Steel City Salt both make amazing products and I use them almost every time I cook.  So thankful for them! 2. Mustard - This might just be a phase but...
