Fresh, local produce is now available

There is nothing like fresh, in season, local produce!  It tastes better, it's healthier, and it's only around for a short time so you're really got to scoop it up while it's available!   While it's a great thing to get excited about local produce, I have other reasons to celebrate this season.  Spring means connecting with those farmers that have been hiding during the winter.  There are quite a few farmers I'm looking forward to seeing on a regular basis again. 1. CSA sign ups are open and excited to welcome you!

What?  You don't know what a CSA is?!?  Let me introduce you to a great way to get fresh local veggies and support your local community at the same time!  CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture.  Early in the spring (right NOW people!!!), households sign up for a "share" of vegetables from a local farm or a group of farms.  With early sign ups, farmers get seed money (literally) to plan their crops, it gives farmers a better idea of demand, and gives a good idea of where delivery will be available.  When produce begins, farmers pack up their produce...

Jam brings us together!

We hosted a few new friends for dinner the other week.  We don't know each other very well so I wasn't sure exactly what to make for dinner.  Breakfast seems to be a pretty safe bet.  The refrigerator was filled with bacon, sausage and eggs and I made biscuits.  Maybe someone would make a breakfast sandwich, maybe eat them all separately, who knows.  But those basic elements gave people a starting point.   The biscuits went out and we started grabbing jams to slather on them.
