Teacher Gift Season is Just Around the Corner.

Posted by Robin Abel on

Teacher gift season is a delicate mix of figuring how many people to include, brainstorming the perfect gift idea, and not completely freaking out because you've either not done enough or done too much.  Obviously we want to say thank you to those very important leaders in our kids lives but those over active Pinterest moms just make us feel like failed the assignment. How can you find a balance?   1. Just be you!  It's truly not a contest but time to say thank you.  If you are a super crazy Pinterest parent, then this is your Christmas and...

Making meals for friends

Posted by Robin Abel on

In the last 15 years, I've probably made about a billion meals for people between that season where everyone is having babies to supporting people during difficult times in their lives.  Having been on the receiving end many times, it is one of those small acts of kindness that reminds you how much people care about you.    This week I made dinner for a friend who had a baby.  I've got quite the system down now.  But it's taken years of taking meals, receiving meals, and figuring out what works best.  Here's a few things to keep in mind...

Come meet our people

On Nov. 4th and 5th, we have having a new event called Sneak Peek.  We've invited a bunch of our vendors and artisans to showcase their talent and give you a great opportunity for holiday shopping, hostest gifts, or the joy of meeting all these interesting people. Join us Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 4/5, from 10-3 and you'll be...

We ordered a new seasonal flavor for the store from Primal Palate the other day called Apple Pie Spice.  I have selflessly taken it upon myself to see how many things I can use with this.  I’m not sure peas will taste like apple pie if we use it but it might be worth a try. I...

Spice-A-licious! if that's a word

Posted by Robin Abel on

A friend said to me the other day, "You are really into those spices!"  Clearly the vast amount of facebook posts including our new spices is saying something about my cooking.  We were not a bland cooking house growing up so spices are very important to me.  When I got married, one night I asked my husband, "How do you make ground beef?"  He answers "Beef?"  Oh no, that's not it!  You have to add a bunch of other stuff to it.   We've changed up our spices in the store to include 3 different companies with different focuses.  We've been using them...
