Clean eating for the win

Clean eating. Paleo lifestyle. Low carb diet. All these concepts should make it easier for us to eat better and be healthy.  With huge portions, snacks with no nutritional value, and labels that trick us into thinking food is good for you, these more natural concepts help us focus on what's important.  But somehow, I still find it hard to be healthy.  Am I the only one?  Owning a store with fresh, local products has really changed the way I see food.  I better understand now how warped our eating habits are with companies putting so much filler and made up stuff in...

Living the simple life

The day after a holiday is relatively slow at the store.  Today, people are getting over their sugar induced haze from last nights Halloween activities.  That actually works out well because my lovely son gave me his cold and a slow day allows me to infect less people.  While these days typically drive me nuts, I'll be happy for this one so I can eat my chicken noodle soup in peace.   I'm grateful to live in a town where trick or treat is so much fun and we need a day to recoup from it!  Our family loads up the kids and...

Spicy Tortilla Soup

When you order products for a store, you probably don't taste every single one.  Or, when I ordered products for Penn Pantry, I didn't test everything that was going to get stocked.  Some products I simply saw on the shelves of other stores or found online and couldn't buy every product to sample (I really appreciated companies sending samples but that's another blog story adventure).  My hope was that they were all fantastic but I really didn't know.
